Tests required for anchor chain accessories

Tensile test: All accessories shall be subjected to a proof test according to the specified proof load of the corresponding anchor chain.

Breaking test: One shall be taken for each manufacturing batch (same heat number, chain diameter and heat treatment) consisting of 25 or less shackles, swivels, swivel shackles, enlarged links and end links shall be used as the sample for the breaking test; and for each manufacturing batch consisting of 50 or less than 50 connecting links, one chain link shall be taken as the sample, and the breaking test shall be carried out according to the specified breaking load. Any accessories that have been tested can no longer be used.

Those who meet the following conditions at the same time can agree to be exempted from the breaking test:

(1) When the approval test is carried out for the same structural accessories, the breaking load has been verified;

(2) The mechanical properties and impact energy of each manufacturing batch have been verified;

(3) Appropriate non-destructive tests have been used for accessories.

For accessories that have passed the test according to the specified breaking load, if the tensile strength of the material used is higher than the specified grade, or the size of the accessories is sufficient to withstand the breaking load 1.4 times the breaking load during the test, these accessories are agreed to continue to be used.
